"A tapestry of colors unfolds in a garden and three gladiolus spikes steal the show, reaching towards the heavens in full bloom. Gladiolus are one of my favorite blooms to see in my garden each summer- especially this shade of deep, velvety ruby red that can almost appear black.I eagerly await their appearance, as they embody the bold spirit of my garden, standing out amidst the other blossoms. As a child, I remember seeing gladiolus at my grandparent’s house, and growing them myself makes me feel more connected to my past and my ancestors. This painting was created with multiple thin layers of acrylic paint applied with brush, palette knife, and paint pen. "
